What makes a Cello Ensemble different from an orchestra or a quartet?
Unlike a string quartet, which is made up of a combination of string instruments, or an orchestra, which includes every member of the string family, as well as winds and brass, a cello ensemble is made up entirely of cellists, with each member having a different part to play in each piece. This creates a soundscape that is unique to cello ensemble!

You can find examples of cello ensembles in action on our about page!
What level does a student need to be in order to participate?
The different parts in cello ensemble pieces and arrangements can vary in terms of difficulty, but in general, it is recommended that students should be able to read both tenor, and treble clef comfortably, as well as have a good understanding of thumb position. A student in Suzuki Book 6 would be a great example of the level needed to participate.
Christopher isn't my/my child's private teacher, can they still participate?
Of course! One of the bonuses of participating in a cello ensemble like this is the opportunity to broaden our musical community, and meet other musicians in various studios.
What is the cost of participation in this group?
There will be twelve 1½-hour (90 minute) rehearsals every semester. The cost for each semester will be $900.00, with payment required by the first rehearsal of every semester. Payment can be undertaken via Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, or personal check. Check out our payment policy here.
